If you want to submit your site to The Travel Directory, you can do so quickly and easily to ensure you start gaining the benefits of a listing as soon as possible. Below I have bullet-pointed the stages you need to follow to help the submission process be as hassle free as possible.

  • Write an article for your holiday business to be placed on our site.

    This should be unique to help the text get picked up in the search engines. Ideally it should be as long as possible although 100 words or so is OK. The more unique text, the more info you give to visitors looking at your page and the more chance your page has of appearing in the Google results (Google won't show a page with no words on!)

    It should contain info about your hotel / activity / restaurant etc to help tell visitors about your site. If you only have one line saying "ABC Hotel is really nice with good service, visit our site today" this will not hook visitors into your site. You should say abit about your business. eg. "ABC hotel is a luxurious yet affordable 4* hotel on the waterfront, many of our rooms have stunning sea views. We also have an award winning restaurant offering the best in local produce, featuring a seasonal menu that showcases the best Yorkshire has to offer."

  • Write a title and description

    Write a title containing just a few words describing your business, keyword rich, try to use words that tell the user something - eg for a hotel something like "ABC Hotel, Leeds, West Yorkshire, 4* Family Hotel & Restaurant" will be good. Also you can write a sentence or two of summary to go on the category page although if you don't include this thats fine, we will write one for you. View the other listings for a few examples.

  • Find / Take pictures that sum up your business

    You've probably got a range of pictures on your website. Choose a couple to send over (up to 3). Think what pictures will give a browser a good indication of what your business is about. If its a boat charter company, include a picture of the boat and one of some stunning coastline nearby perhaps. For a hotel, include an exterior picture, and a picture of one of the rooms perhaps.

  • Send your Article to thetraveldirectory@gmail.com

    Once you've written your article, title & description, and got your pictures - you're ready to submit to The Travel Directory. Send your files in an email to us (preferably all in one email, preferably zipped up in one file). Also (just in case its not obvious!) say which category you wish to be placed in - eg. "North west" or "london". Include your name and business name for reference.

  • Make Payment using Paypal

    The link to paypal can be found at the submit page. Simply send the specified amount from your account to ours. In the "notes" section during payment, please include your name and business name again so we can easily match these up to avoid confusion.

  • ... Just Wait!

    Once payment has been sent, and we have the article, we will endeavour to place your article as soon as possible, usually within 2 working days. This article will be placed on its own page with a link from the specified category page. Please note occasionally we may take longer than a two days so please don't panic if your article isn't up after this time. We will notify you when live.
