Now we've already had a couple of posts touching on how and why to list your site in our UK Travel Directory. Here we're just going to expand on that slightly and persuade you why its a great move to help your online holiday business gain extra traffic via the search engines.
Many holiday companies use advertising to help them attract visitors. They may advertise in local papers, print brochures or leaflets, or use PPC (Pay Per Click) online marketing. These methods may bring successful results in their own rights but some can be expensive and not guarantee your website receives much traffic or your phone is constntly ringing with bookings.
PPC is a really popular method of bringing in visits online. For small-medium size websites, who may get less that 1000 or so visits a month via the search engines, paying 25p or so for a visit to your site can be a good (and often profitable) way to get users to your site. The problem is, the average conversion rate of PPC is about 1% - that is 1 in 100 people who access your site via the PPC adverts will book or buy with you. This is £25 per purchase going on advertising which significantly cuts into your profit margin.
The benefit of submitting your site to the Travel Directory is that you pay a one-off fee of just £5. Your article will get viewed many times, due to the visitors that come to our site via the search results and browse around our directory pages, perhaps looking for the hotel or service that you offer. You only need 20 visits to your site (based on 25p a visit for PPC advertising) to make the submission more profitable compared to PPC. In reality, because of the pictures and text on your advert page (the article you can write advertising your business) any visits you get will be MUCH more targeted than PPC visitors as they will already have a good idea of what your business offers. Therefore visits coming through our directory to your site should be much more likely to end up a the checkout.
So - if you've got a UK business - perhaps a hotel, tour operator or activity business, submit your site to our UK travel directory pages - please visit the submit a site page for more infomation on listing in The Travel Directory or email us at: thetraveldirectory@gmail.com if you have any questions.
