If you're thinking about listing your business in The Travel Directory, there are a few things you should think about to ensure you get the most out of your listing.
To help increase the amount of traffic that lands on your listing, we recommend writing a good length article. The more text you write describing your hotel/service, the more likely your listing will appear directly in the Google, Yahoo & Bing search results for searches relevant to your business. If you write 10 words, your listing will be potentially be found for searches relating to those words. If you write 500 words, there is a bigger 'pool' of potential words and phrases that will help the listing appear in the search results. So writing more should help your listing appear in the search results, one source of traffic to your site. Another source is of course people navigating to your listing from other pages of The Travel Directory.
We also recommend ensuring the article you write is UNIQUE. In other words, do not copy text from your own site - write unique sentences that are not found elsewhere on other sites. The reason for this? Google sees duplicate content as offering no value to users. Therefore it may not show your listing in the search results for people searching for related queries. Writing unique text helps maximise the chances your listing will appear directly in the search results.
In terms of pictures for your listing - think about what will make people click through to your site. Pick pictures that you think will impress users the most. A pictureque view of your hotel in the sunshine for example, or a picture of one of the rooms, rather than pictures of the car park, or corridor, for example. it sounds simple but picking a good selection of pictures can help draw people to your site. You can have up to 3 pictures so possibly choose 3 that show a range of qualities.
Also, perhaps write your article in a way that will entice users to click through. Provide enough information to draw users in - a vague article may not excite your readers, wheras an article that says where your business is situated, along with details of star rating (for hotels) and perhaps price range, can help tell the reader what your business is about. This way, people clicking through to your site will already be interested in your services and therefore will be more likely to book with you than users coming directly to your own site.
