We love Cornwall. And we're not the only ones. Millions of people visit Cornwall every year on their summer holidays and just keep on coming back. Cornwall was awarded "Best UK Holiday Destination" in 2009 by the prestigious British Travel Awards which helps go to show why Cornwall has such a big reputation within the UK tourism industry.
Located on the South Western tip of England, Cornwall is the UK's Southernmost county and as a result, tends to boast the finest weather Great Britain has to offer. Many people describe Cornwall as having its own microclimate and that is a fair comment in our opinion - jutting out into the Channel means Cornwall shares some of France's characteristic climate. This is one reason why vineyeards in the region are on the rise - many people, even the French (!), are predicting the South to become a new force in wine over the next decade or so.
But it's not just the sunshine that makes Cornwall such a popular destination. Cornwall boasts many great towns, with plenty to do, as well as a multitude of award winning beaches. Newquay is one of Cornwall's best known towns - attracting young and old alike, the surfing here is generally considered to be the some of the best in the UK. Cornwall is home to some charming villages and small towns also, well worth pottering about in winter and summer alike. Local food tends to feature heavily on restaurant menus in the region, including good amounts of fresh fish. Of course a genuine Cornish Pastie never goes amiss, when in Rome and all that.
