So - just to recap - a listing in The Travel Directory costs £5. And thats not for a month - or a year - in fact there are NO RENEWALS NEEDED! So in theory your listing could stay on our site for generations. Now most people visiting The Travel Directory will be browsing for hotels, restaurants, hostels, flights, jet ski hire, or boat tour operators (for example!). If they're looking for services in your region, there every chance they will stumble upon your page, read your description and click through to your site.
So lets just estimate your site gets just 20 visits in a year via our site. This is purely a number plucked out of the air for the purpose of this article and by no means an accurate representation of how much your site will receive! Thats 20 visits for £5, in the first year. Thats 25p a visit. Now lets think about PPC.
PPC (pay per click) advertising is a popular method of marketing used by many businesses to get people through to their sites. If you search for, say, "hotel in london", the sponsored listings are those that appear on the right of Googles search results. If you click these, the site you are visiting is paying Google an amount of money for Google to show their advert at the top of the search results (as opposed to the "natural" search results in the centre of the screen). The price the websites pay is called the CPC (Cost Per Click) and varies depending on how high in the results the site wants to appear in the search results. Appearing near the top costs more as there is more chance of getting visitors.
Many companies spend hundreds of pounds on PPC every month. The aim is of course that for every 100 paid visits a handful will book or purchase from the site. Below is a table showing average costs of a selection of phrases that companies may pay for using PPC.

You can see many phrases cost £1+ for EACH CLICK. So if a site gets 20 visits via PPC, that can be £20 paid straight away. Compare this to submitting your site in The Travel Directory - £5 can get you an indefinite number of visits so over a year could be far better value for money. In PPC terms, £5 could get you just 3-4 visits - it sounds expensive but many, many companies do it as each visit is often worth more than £1 if there is a chance they end up purchasing off the site.
So the point of this little exercise is this - if you submit your site to The Travel Directory, you could get many visits for a one-off fee of £5 - and get far better value for money than PPC.
So - if you've got a UK business, or foreign business - perhaps a hotel, restaurant, tour operator or activity business - then submit your site to our travel directory pages - please visit the submit a site page for more infomation on listing in The Travel Directory or email us: thetraveldirectory@gmail.com if you have any questions.
